Thinking Out Loud

email scams, jokes, frauds, etc.

I got another one of those emails today forwarded on by a good friend who had gotten it from a good friend who had gotten it from a good friend....who had supposedly heard it from someone who had seen it on the news and in a two-page article in USA Today...Forward the email and you'll get lots of money from Bill Gates!

Augghhhh, please! People are so gullible...and I believe they actually think this is going to happen, and what does it hurt to forward along to everyone they know or at least a few of their good friends?

What does it hurt? How about cluttering up email servers with useless crap? What about generating unnecessary traffic on the internet? I know there is plenty of bandwidth but hey, why don't we use it for something useful!?

How about the one with the little girl that was lost in Wal-Mart or the little girl that is dying from some rare form of cancer...all of these prey on our sympathies and some of them go straight to the heart.

Here is my wish: please, when you get one of these emails, before you blindly send it along, check out ScamBusters or Snopes.

Thanks.

Kanye West

so last night my dh and I were doing some random flipping and came across Kanye West's new music video for his new song, Heard 'em Say. This song blew me away. I really like the animation, done by Bill Plympton, as well. My musical tastes run from country to tori amos to barenaked ladies to dave mathews and on to classic van halen and alice and chains...let's just say it's pretty broad spectrum. I am starting to like some of Sean Combs' stuff and Usher and Kanye West...I guess my musical tastes are changing as well. Change is good...you can't advance without change.

First Post

Well, I liked Nat's blog so much that I started my own. I'm getting ready to embark on some huge life changes in the near future -- I figure, why not invite others to experience them with me? I am sure there will be humor, sadness and incredulity along the way. I usually have a lot to say - most of it rants here lately, but I'm hoping that the life changes alluded to above will translate rants into happy blogging. :)

After what I feel to be a successful career with an unnamed very large energy company in North America, I'm moving on -- to something totally and completely different. I have some ideas but I know one thing -- my new career is going to fit into my life rather than my life fitting into my career. It's amazing what happens when you have a child! Everything, and I do mean everything, changes overnight. Some of the overnight changes are left in the dark until one day you wake up and realize something has changed and you gotta do something about it. Thus begins my new journey.
